HEDGEROW

A glimpse through an ancient hedge invites you to explore further, across the meadow and to the trees beyond.

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS                31CM X 31CM              £130.00

SHADY LOGGIA

Despite the tropical look of the foliage this South facing wall is in Kent. I love the sun and shade, hot and cool contrasts in it.

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS         51CM X 41CM             £235

FLOODED VAULTS I

Many buildings take on a different character when something unexpected happens. The flooding in these vaults allows the ceiling to be reflected and the effect is as if in a ‘Hall of Mirrors’

EDGE OF THE WOODS

Since moving to Sussex I have been inspired by the pockets of woodland all around. The picture draws me in, I want to see what the wood is like inside.

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS           36CM X 25CM             £130

p14.jpg

PUDDLES

A subject I had drawn in pencil many years ago gave me the opportunity to experiment with building up relief in resin paste before applying paint to the canvas.

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS WITH RESIN PASTE  61CM X 91CM      £350

SHINGLE BANK AT RYE HARBOUR

The temptation at Rye Harbour is to look out to sea but the views back to where you came from are just as interesting. Here the old abandoned life boat building sits high on a shingle bank.

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS WITH RESIN PASTE     25CM X 30CM     £130

TO THE SEA - RYE HARBOUR

Looking out to sea with the tide low, the light reflects off the shallow water and casts ribbons of sunlight and shadow through what remains of the sea-beaten groins.

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS WITH RESIN PASTE     26CM X 30CM    £130

PLOUGHED FIELD

Another subject I return to. Initially a rather bleak image but the foreground reveals the warm earthy colours of the Wealden clay in contrast to the winter tree silhouettes.

DAPPLED LANE

The sunlight through the fresh green leaves play over a track that first made its way through the wood hundreds of years ago. This image can be found throughout Britain and although very like the narrow lanes close to my home this is in Devon where I spent the summer.

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS        76CM X 51CM                         £270

VAULTS III

Inspired by the cave dwellings in Southern France and Greece I have built up heavy layers of resin paste to give depth and visual power to this image.
